American rock band Aerosmith has announced their retirement from their concert tour. The decision comes after lead vocalist Steven Tyler experienced a vocal cord injury that has proven difficult to recover from.

The band, known for hits like "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing," stated that they had previously postponed some of their farewell concerts due to Tyler's vocal injury.

“As you know, Steven's voice is an unparalleled instrument. He has spent months tirelessly working to restore his voice to its pre-injury condition,” Aerosmith said, as reported by The Guardian.

“We’ve seen him struggle hard despite having the best medical team by his side. Unfortunately, recovery from his vocal injury is no longer feasible.”

“We’ve made a heart wrenching and difficult decision, but it is necessary as a band of brothers to retire from the tour,” the band announced.

Previously, Aerosmith had canceled their farewell tour, titled "Peace Out," because Tyler needed ongoing treatment for his vocal cords. However, his condition turned out to be more serious than initially expected.

The band was set to complete their farewell tour by February 2025. Aerosmith had already held three concerts before postponing the remaining dates and deciding to retire.

The decision has saddened fellow musicians, including Queen's guitarist Sir Brian May, who expressed his condolences on Instagram.

“This situation brings tears to my eyes. Aerosmith has been a huge part of my life, as it has for millions of other rock fans,” Sir Brian May said.

Steve Tyler is one of the greatest vocalists and frontmen of all time, and it is heartbreaking that his incredible voice has been damaged. Everything must pass, but Aerosmith's inspiring work will live on along with the memories of one of the most amazing bands ever to grace the stage,” he added.
