EMI remains tight-lipped about the exact location of the factory. Earlier, there were reports that Mazda had chosen an area in West Java, but this has yet to be confirmed.

Ricky also did not provide a clear answer when asked about the completion date of the factory and plans for starting mass production. According to him, EMI will share more about the factory once there is significant progress.

"As soon as there is tangible progress, we will certainly invite media friends to come and see," he said.

He elaborated that the factory will not only focus on assembling vehicles but will also become one of Mazda's automotive manufacturing centers. Previous reports mentioned that Mazda will concentrate on producing SUV models.

Ricky added that the company also aims for the products manufactured at the factory to not only meet domestic demand but also fulfill export requirements.

"First, meet domestic demand, then organize it, and only then consider exports, but I can't say when exports will start," he said.

The clarity on Mazda establishing a factory in Indonesia resurfaced in 2023 through the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin).

Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita discussed Mazda's investment commitment during his meetings with several automotive companies in Japan, including Mazda Motor Corporation. Agus confirmed that Mazda's investment commitment will begin in 2024.
