A visa is an entry permit issued by a destination country to individuals wishing to enter that nation. Remarkably, the stronger a country's passport, the easier it is for its holders to enter other countries without a visa. Nations like Singapore, France, Germany, Italy, and Japan are renowned for having some of the strongest passports in the world. Unfortunately, Indonesia's passport still falls short of this status, resulting in many countries requiring Indonesian citizens (WNI) to obtain a visa.

However, there are several countries that exempt Indonesian citizens from requiring a visa and offer Visa-on-Arrival (VoA) or Electronic Travel Authority (eTA). A total of 76 countries allow Indonesian passport holders to enter with just their passport.

According to the 2024 Henley Passport Index by Henley & Partners, the Indonesian passport ranks 65th, lagging significantly behind several neighboring countries such as Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, and Timor Leste.
