His first competition was an inter-high school tournament in Pontianak. Even though he had a bad experience and fell right at the start of the competition, this didn't discourage Veddriq.
Driven by determination, he started training at home by doing pull-ups on the door vent. With his father's help, he even built a bouldering wall at his school.

The parade of thousands of residents on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, filled the streets to welcome the champion's arrival. The grand procession, which began at Supadio International Airport and ended at the West Kalimantan Governor's Hall, was a clear testament to the public's affection for Veddriq. 

On that occasion, besides greeting the people, Veddriq also gave a speech and shared his experiences. He said that hard work and discipline were the keys to his success. Additionally, his achievement at the Olympics was also driven by the prayers and support of his parents and the people of Indonesia.

Vreddriq’s Hopes

Veddriq also has high hopes for the world of sports in West Kalimantan, especially in Pontianak. His achievements have become an inspiration and motivation for the younger generation in Indonesia. He stated that Indonesian youth must progress and adapt in every field, including sports, due to the increasingly fierce competition.
