This year's ITS Asia Pacific Forum 2024 carries the theme "Transformation Towards A Sustainable and Intelligent Urban Mobility." This theme aligns with Indonesia's roadmap for designing intelligent transportation systems. The forum aims to facilitate the exchange of ideas, showcase technological innovations, and discuss progress in ITS.

"Once again, Indonesia plays host to an international event, and the ITS Asia Pacific Forum 2024 must be a moment to create a smart, safe, and sustainable mobility system for the welfare of society," said Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin at the opening ceremony of the ITS Asia Pacific Forum 2024. The forum is attended by over 1,000 international delegates, including representatives from the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, China, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Malaysia, and Singapore.

Several other institutions, such as the International Transport Federation (ITF), World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and European Investment Bank, are also present. Over 50 national and international speakers are showcasing the latest innovations in transportation.

Three main initiatives were presented at the forum. Firstly, the Chair's note on sustainability, formulated jointly with 28 friendly nations, emphasizes the commitment to advancing smart and sustainable transportation.

Secondly, the launch of the Jakarta Initiative on Sustainable and Intelligent Urban Mobility, a concrete plan for the development of smart and sustainable transportation starting from Jakarta.

Lastly, the launch of the Electric Mobility Road to COP 29 (E-mobility to COP29) campaign, which promotes the use of electric vehicles by COP29 delegates, starting from Jakarta, Rome, and Baku.

"This initiative reaffirms the commitment to clean energy and sustainable mobility, Indonesia's commitment to clean energy use and sustainable transportation."

This initiative involves collaboration between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), the Association of ITS Indonesia, ITS Asia Pacific, and the 5P Global Movement, reflecting synergy between the business world, transportation associations, and global civil society alliances.

KADIN, along with ITS Indonesia and the Global 5P Movement, initiated the Jakarta Initiative on Sustainable and Intelligent Urban Mobility, focusing on three main pillars: sustainability, intelligence, and accessibility.

Chairman of KADIN Indonesia, Arsjad Rasjid, hopes that the initiative spearheaded by ITS, KADIN, and the Global 5P Movement can serve as a catalyst. This can be followed by other regions in Indonesia.

"We will focus on Jakarta as the starting point before replicating this model to other cities. We need inclusive collaborative efforts, a spirit of cooperation from the government, business community, and civil society is essential to realize our shared vision: a smarter, greener, and more connected transportation system for Indonesia and the wider Asia Pacific region," he said.
